I grew up in competitive swimming in Ireland. Early mornings, double sessions, and hard work. Like every swimmer, I kept track of things in my head, in notebooks, or not at all. My coach had it worse — managing 30+ of us in seperate google sheets.
After I stopped competing, I kept thinking about all the training data that just disappeared. Years of sessions, sets, distances, times - gone. No record of what worked. No way to look back and say "that block of training is what made the difference."
I started Finzy as just a mobile app with smart logging ai and other training/meet logging features.
But the more I talked to coaches, the more I realised the bigger problem wasn't logging - it was visibility. Coaches had no idea what their swimmers were doing outside of practice. They couldn't spot overtraining until it showed up as a bad race. When parents asked "is my child improving?" they had no data to point to.
The tool I'd built for swimmers was useful. But the tool coaches actually needed - one that connected the entire squad and gave them real-time visibility into what was happening - didn't exist yet. So I built that too.
Today, Finzy is a performance platform for swim coaches and clubs. Coaches subscribe and get a dashboard with their full squad's live training data, performance trends, and other useful tools. Their swimmers use the mobile app for free - logging workouts, tracking PBs, and staying connected to their coach's programme.
If you've got feedback, ideas, or just want to tell me about your club - I genuinely want to hear it.
